Halton CVS was established by local voluntary organisations in Halton and became a registered charity in 1985.  In 1992 it became a charitable company and changed its name to Halton Voluntary Action.  In 1998 HVA moved into the Old Police Station.

Originally its main aims centred on health and social welfare issues.  Recently it has become involved in local authority led Economic Regeneration Partnerships - actively promoting the value of involving individuals, voluntary organisations and community groups in sustainable regeneration.
